BELLAIRE - Belmont County sheriff's deputies are investigating after a contractor said someone stole a bulldozer from a construction site and used it to destroy the front of a nearby home on Belmont County Road 214.
Shelly and Sands Inc. of Zanesville, Ohio, is working on an Interstate 470 construction project, and its equipment is stored less than a mile from the home. A company safety official said the bulldozer was taken from that site sometime late Sunday or early Monday and used to rip apart the residence. That person then abandoned the bulldozer in the front yard of the home.
Suzanne Lagowski said her son Justin is on vacation in Florida, so his house was empty at the time of the incident. He began renting the home in March, she said.

Someone stole a bulldozer from a construction site and used it to destroy the front of this home on Belmont County Road 214 late Sunday or early Monday.
"He's just devastated," Suzanne Lagowski said of her son. "Everything he worked for was in that house."
Belmont County Sheriff's Department caution tape surrounded the residence Monday. The home's facade had been completely removed, and the interior was clearly visible from the road.
A friend driving by the home Monday morning notified Justin Lagowski of what had happened when he called to see if Lagowski was uninjured, Suzanne Lagowski said. Justin Lagowski then called his mother, who went to the scene from Shadyside.
Calls to the sheriff's department were not returned Monday.
