POWELL, Ellen Mae Baker Bennington, 95, of Wheeling, WV, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at home.
She was born May 4, 1917, in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Henry and Ethel Heston Baker.
Ellen was a Christian by faith and a former employee of City Restaurant, Bellaire, Ohio, where she worked as a waitress and cook.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two husbands, Theodore Bennington and Benjamin Powell, daughter, Dorothy M. Bennington Redman, two sons, Charles A. and William "Billy" Bennington, grandson, Jeffrey Bennington, two brothers, Willard A. and Robert Baker and sister, Ethel L. Baker.
Surviving are a daughter, Jackie (John) Bennington Hollingshead, of Warwood, WV, sister, Dolores Baker McIntyre, of McMechen, WV, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 23, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, South Wheeling Chapel, 3828 Jacob Street, Wheeling, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 24, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Mathis officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Wheeling.
