GLOVER, Col. William L. - Army Retired, 73, of New Martinsville, WV, passed away Friday, July 21, 2012, at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV. He was a Christian.
"Bill" was born May 27, 1939, in New Martinsville, WV son of the late Herdman and Merle Wilson Glover of Pine Grove, WV.
He was a graduate of Pine Grove High School, Class of 1957, graduate of WVU in 1961 where he was a business major and participated in the ROTC.
He spent nine years active duty, which included tours in France, Korea and Vietnam.
He worked with an orphanage while in Korea and had a road named Glover Road for him in Vietnam. He left active duty on March 31, 1970, and became a Reservist on April 1, 1970. Retiring with 30 years of service in 1991. Commissioned Colonel in September 1982 and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a computer consultant in Massachusetts for many years.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Nelda Kocher Glover of New Martinsville, WV; sister, Beulah Lasure of New Martinsville, WV; daughter, Lesley (David) Nevers of FL; sons, William J. Glover of Mass. and Jeff (Deanna) Glover of NE; step-daughter, Mickie Hall (Michael Wells) of New Martinsville, WV; five grandchildren, Clay Nevers, Lane Nevers, Lily Nevers, Caroline Glover and Emily Glover; three step-grandchildren, Abi Batton, Carly Hall and Cody Hall; two step-great-grandsons, Kaleb Starkey and Kaiden Batton; special caregivers, Mary Southerly and "Boo" Hall and many cousins and friends.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Homes, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012, with Pastor Victor Hunter and Dale Dudgeon officiating.
Interment in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at the convenience of the family.
