CARMICHAEL, Hubert L., "Pap," 90, of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012, in Mound View Nursing Home, Mounds-ville, W.Va.
Pap was born December 7, 1921 in Cameron, W.Va., the son of the late Charles and Clare (Teagarden) Carmichael. He was a graduate of Cameron High School; retired from the former Reichart Furniture Co., Wheeling; and was a U.S., Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Una Carmichael in 2003; a son, Hubert S. Carmichael; two foster-sons, Kenneth Strahl, and Archibald "Butch" Oliver; and a daughter-in-law, Lucille Carmichael.
Pap is survived by his three sons, James L. Carmichael and his wife, Mickey of Lafayette, Colo., Gerald L. Carmichael of Sunrise, Fla. and Ronald N. Carmichael and his wife, Shirley of Chester, W.Va.; a sister, Elizabeth Isabelle Spence of Hampton, Va.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St. Wheeling, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012, with Bruce Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Fork Ridge Christian Church Cemetery.
