Margaret Ryff

RYFF, Margaret Ann (Klug), 81, passed away at the Menno Village Nursing Center, Chambersburg, Pa., on Thursday, July 26, 2012.

Born October 17, 1930, in Wheeling, W.Va., Margaret was the daughter of the late Joanna (Murphy) and Dr. Thomas Klug.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Thomas Klug of Harlingen, Texas.

She is survived by her loving husband John Ryff; her sisters, Mary C. Klug and Yvonne Klug of Wheeling; her brother, Gerald Klug of St. Clairsville, Ohio; two nephews; seven nieces, and their many children.

Graduating from St. Joseph Academy in Wheeling, Margaret completed her studies with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati. She was awarded an MS degree and completed a hospital dietetic internship at the Ohio State University. She served on the dietary staff of several hospitals in Ohio, New York, California, Washington, Massachusetts, Virginia and Connecticut.

She and her husband were married at St. Alphonsus Church in Wheeling on June 14, 1958. Before retiring to Cape Cod with her husband in 1994, she was employed by the Westat Consulting Company in Rockville, Md. She was active in volunteer work during retirement and spent many happy hours gardening and cooking. In 2007 the couple moved to their final home in the Penn National community located in Fayetteville, Pa.

Margaret was a communicant of St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Orrtanna Pa., and a member of the Council of Catholic Women of that church.

Friends will be received Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Francis A. O'Kruta as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
