Clyde Bartimus

BARTIMUS, Clyde Jerome, 73, of San Juan, TX, and Beallsville, OH, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the bedside of his family and loving, devoted wife of 50 years, Arabella Trevino Bartimus, after a brief yet hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born Oct 12, 1938, in Beallsville, OH to Mike and Minnie Bartimus, the third son of five strapping young men, Ralph, Charles, Jim and Mike. Clyde served honorably and with distinguished honors in both the US Marine Corps and subsequently the US Army where he retired after 21 years as a SFC E-7. A highly decorated man, one of his numerous medals he was awarded is the Bronze Star for bravery and honor, after his second tour in Vietnam as a Medic in the 101st Airborne in 1971. A robust man, full of life and love, he was the father of five children, Clyde Jr, (Stephanie) Bartimus, San Antonio, TX, Theresa Bartimus (Greg Bittner), St. Louis, MO, Clarissa (Chris) Webb, Rosenberg, TX, Jason (Elena) Bartimus, McAllen, TX, and Iris (Duncan) Foshee, Jasper, TX; the grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of one.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents, and brothers Ralph and Charles as well as grandson Orly Villalobos (and recently) his dear sister-in-law Esper Trevino.

A prayer service was held July 31, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today, August 1, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church in San Juan. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Proud to be an American and veteran. Dad, you will be deeply missed by all who knew you. We will always love you. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
