CRONIN, Mary Alberta Ellis (Abbo), 91, of Wheeling, WV, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital and Geriatric Center, Wheeling.

She was born in Little Rock, AR on August 23, 1920, the daughter of the late Frank and Lucile Ellis. She graduated from Central High School in Little Rock in 1938 and Harding University in Searcy, AR in 1941.

Abbo attended National Road Church of Christ in Wheeling where her husband was an Elder. She was active for many years as a Bible school teacher and organizer of children's classes.

Abbo was devoted in service to Ohio Valley University in Vienna, WV. She was a founding member of the Wheeling Chapter of Stepping Stones for Ohio Valley University. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, to whom she was married for 64 years.

Survivors include a sister, Era Madge Ellis (Herman) McFatter, of Baton Rouge, LA, daughter, Mary (Paul) Gardner, of Searcy, Arkansas, daughter, Era (Dennis) Cox, of Vienna, WV, son, Pat (Becky) Cronin, of Wheeling. Also four grandchildren, Michael (Nellie) Cox, Vienna, WV, Jay (Lori) Gardner, Maumelle, AR, Sean (Trisha) Cronin, Vienna, WV, and Molly Cronin (Nate) Williams, Perryville, AR. She also had five great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311). Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at National Road Church of Christ, Wheeling with Mr. Ron Stullenbarger and Mr. John Wright officiating.

Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
