TAYLOR, Betty Louise Allcock, 86, of Bethesda, MD, formerly of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, August 4, 2012, after a short illness.
She was born March 2, 1926, in Wheeling, daughter of the late William John Mosley Allcock and Louise Jane Hill Allcock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Allcock Doman and brother-in-law, Reed Doman.
Mrs. Taylor graduated from the former Triadelphia High School and was employed for more than thirty years at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. She and her husband, Kenneth, enjoyed traveling around the world for many years. For the past three years they have resided at Brighton Gardens, an assisted living community, where they were blessed with many friendships. At Brighton Gardens, Betty was an enthusiastic member of the Garden Club, Drama Club, and thoroughly enjoyed art classes and exhibiting her art work. In her younger years, she was active in the Girl Scouts of America as a member and later a leader.
She was a member of the Bethesda United Church of Christ where she enjoyed singing with the choir.
Betty was an outgoing and social person whose personality and wit will be missed.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth L. Taylor; a niece, Joy Doman Fox and husband, Pete Fox, of Triadelphia; a nephew, Daniel Reed Doman and wife, Becky Doman, of Beckley, WV;' great-nieces, Sandy Fox Keller of Triadelphia, WV, Renee Fox Norred of Corvallis, OR, and Sally Doman Woodard of Lucasville, OH, and their families, and sister-in-law, Floren Taylor Houser of Knoxville, TN.
Friends will be received from 10 - 11 on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at the Kepner Funeral Home (304-242-2311), 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Reverend R. Paul Schafer officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
