COOK, Garnet Jean Merritt, 81, died Friday, August 3, 2012, at Wheeling Hospital.
Garnet was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Leonard and Evelyn Merritt and grew up in Wheeling. Garnet worked for the telephone company and was an active member with the PBS club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle, to whom she was married for 41 years; a sister, Betty; and a brother, Jim.
Survivors include a sister, Peggy Hagen; a brother, Sonny Merritt; and children Mike Tout of Palmerton, Pa., Jodi Lohnes of Hobe Sound, Fla., Lori Sims of Sun Prairie, Wisc., Doyla Lane of Rodersville, Tenn., Doyle Jr. of Palmerton, Pa., and Edward Cook of Weston, W.Va. Garnet had 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
