Arnold Miszaros Sr.

MISZAROS, Arnold Sr., 88, of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.

Arnold was born November 8, 1923, in Scottsdale, Pa., the son of the late Peter and Mary (Chinchek) Miszaros. He was retired from Valley Camp Coal Co. and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling.

Arnold was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having landed in Normandy during the Battle of the Bulge, while serving with the 101st Airborne Division. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart; a member of the V.F.W. #4442, the American Legion; the Disabled American Veterans; and the Elm Grove Eagles, Aerie 1891, Wheeling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Cilone) Miszaros, in 2007; a step-son, Daniel Chiavaroli; a sister, Mary Prager; and a nephew, Charles Prager.

Arnold is survived by his son, Arnold Miszaros, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Gulf Port, Fla.; a step-son, Peter Chiavaroli of Lansdale, Pa.; three grandsons; a great-grandchild; and two nephews, Arnold L. Prager of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Raymond L. Prager of Triadelphia, W.Va.

Arnold's family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the nurses, therapists and aids of 2 center at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. Raju Antony as celebrant, assisted by Arnold's brother-in-law, Deacon Andrew Cilone of Ellenboro, N.C. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Wheeling, with full military honors provided by the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling, WV 26003.
