Carl Ebert

EBERT, Carl J. Jr, 83, of Follansbee passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Trinity West Hospital.

Carl was born on December 1, 1928, in Silver Hill (Wetzel County), WV. He is the son of the late Carl J. Ebert Sr. and Willa Easter (Yocum) Ebert.

Carl served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Follansbee. Carl enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all he enjoyed his bluegrass music and meeting people. He was a member of the Mon Valley Pickers and the Flat Iron Bluegrass Groups. Carl retired from the Weirton Steel Corp.

In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his three brothers, John J. "Jake," Benjamin F., and Paul W. Ebert.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie (Miller) Ebert of Follansbee, four devoted children, Charles (Karen) Ebert, Selby, NC, Mary R. Ebert of Moundsville, WV, Michael J. (Mary Ann) Ebert of Follansbee, WV, and Shirley A. (Kelly) Fridley of Wellsburg, WV, a bluegrass son, Ray (Sharon) Coen of Wellsburg, WV, six caring grandchildren, Carl J. Ebert III, Jennifer Love, Michelle Wade, Marci Agee, and Jason and Jeff Fridley, eight adoring great-grandchildren, a brother, Harold "Toby" Ebert of Bellaire, OH, a sister, Matilda "Sis" Lower, of New Matamoras, OH, and several nieces, nephews, and close bluegrass friends.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., with vigil service at 8:30 p.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV where the funeral will commence on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 9 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, WV, with Father Pete Giannamore presiding.

Entombment with full military honors will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee.
