JIVIDEN, Arlin D., 82, of Moundsville, WV, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 in Walkersville, MD.
He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Tribble, Mason County, WV, the son of the late Roy C. and Ora McCoy Jividen. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Carma Lee Jividen, in 2010.
He grew up on his family's farm; served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; attended Marshall University and graduated from WV Institute of Technology with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He was a retired engineer from American Electric Power Corp., having worked 34 years at several power plants in the Ohio River Valley including Kammer/Mitchell near Moundsville. He was an active member of Simpson United Methodist Church, Kiwanis, and Shriners. He assisted Shriners with transporting handicapped children for 12 years.
Survivors include son, Gregory (Patricia) Jividen of Frederick, MD; daughter, Carolyn (Stuart) Weliever of Crawfordsville, IN; and grandchildren, Grace Jividen, Thomas Jividen, Luke Weliever, and Rebecca Weliever.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dale, Vance, and Emile Jividen, and sisters, Eva Bartram and Wilma Kenyon.
Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, and Friday from 10 until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at Simpson United Methodist Church, 800 7th St., Moundsville, with Rev. Teresa G. Markins officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Warner Chapel Cemetery, Mason County, WV.
