DUFFY - A 34-year-old Arkansas woman was struck and killed while walking in the road on Ohio 7 near Duffy in Monroe County just after 9 p.m. Thursday.
According to a trooper with the St. Clairsville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Viola "Kim" Stark died at the scene of the accident.
Officials said Stark was struck by a Jeep Liberty driven by Patricia Blake, 61, of Sardis, who was traveling north on Ohio 7. Stark was then struck by a southbound 2010 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Ruth Piatt, 74, of New Matamoras, Ohio.
Preliminary reports state alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor for the pedestrian but not for the drivers involved.
Ohio 7 was closed for more than three hours due to the accident.
In addition to the patrol, the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Sardis Volunteer Fire Department, Monroe County Coroner's Office and Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the scene.
Stark of Fairfield Bay, Ark., had been residing temporarily in Sardis.
The accident remains under investigation.
