ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Sun beats through skylights and carpet tiles now cushion the shopping experience in the hallways of the Ohio Valley Mall.
A major renovation has been under way at the shopping center since the start of summer, and the project is on track to be complete and meet a Nov. 1 deadline, said Property Manager George Diab. He isn't permitted to say just how much the mall's owner, the Cafaro Co., is investing in the St. Clairsville property.
The installation of four skylights in the mall's roof is now complete, and heating and air conditioning units were replaced. New restrooms also are open.

Workers place new floor tile in the food court area at the Ohio Valley Mall.
About 20 percent of the carpet to be placed in the building has been installed, and painting of the interior is about 60 percent finished, he said.
"The main entrance between Garfield's and Osaka Steak House - we're seeing major changes there," Diab said. "It probably won't be done until the last week of October."
On the exterior, new sidewalks are being placed around the mall, as are lighting and signage.
The parking lot still must be seal coated and striped, and landscaping will start within the next two weeks, he continued.
"We're about 20 percent done with washing down the building," Diab said. "We're getting new common area furniture, and also new landscaping on the interior. It should be installed during October."
The Ohio Valley Mall is owned by the Cafaro Co. based in Youngstown, Ohio. The company is not revealing how much it plans to spend on what it terms a "multimillion-dollar" renovation of the 1.2 million-square-foot shopping center.
B&B Contractors and Developers of Youngstown is the general contractor for the project.
