BURKE, Mary Ann, 81, of Wheeling, W.Va., died, Sunday, September 16, 2012, in Wheeling Hospital.
She was born December 5, 1930, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Klug Weiskircher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter V. Burke; a son, Patrick M. Burke; and a brother, Robert Weiskircher.
Mrs. Burke was a registered nurse at Wheeling Hospital and then became the night nurse-supervisor at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling and the Rosary Altar Society at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Triadelphia, W.Va. She was also a member of the Wheeling Hospital Nursing School Alumni, a volunteer at Wheeling Hospital and a volunteer at the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center, 18th Street, Wheeling.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas J. (Cynthia) Burke, John D. (Cheryl) Burke of Wheeling; three daughters, Nancy (Gary) King, of Wheeling, Kathryn (Frank) Bliske of Canfield, Ohio and Bridget (Grant) Stocking of Madison, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Bentz Burke of Wheeling; a brother, Thomas (Barbara) Weiskircher of Scott Depot, W.Va.; two sisters, Clara Rose Carnahan of Glen Dale, W.Va. and Sister Alicia Marie Weiskircher, C.S.J. of Wheeling; 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Gary Naegele as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
