CLEARVIEW - Police Chief Roger Bise said the deceased body of a 16-year-old boy was found around 7 a.m. Sunday in a field near the boy's home.
According to Bise, an individual discovered the Wheeling Park High School student face down in the field on Clearview Avenue and called 911. The Clearview Volunteer Fire Department was the first agency to respond, followed by the police department, Bise reported.
The boy's body showed no obvious sign of injury, Bise said. Alcohol may have been a factor in his death, he added, but said that cannot be confirmed until an autopsy and toxicology screening is completed in Charleston.
Bise also said the last time someone spoke to the boy was "late (Saturday) night," but was unable to provide a specific time. He went on to say he doubts the medical examiner will be able to determine a near exact time of death.
The Ohio County Sheriff's Department is assisting in the investigation.
