WHEELING - Ohio residents who are not registered to vote must do so by the end of today if they want to cast a ballot in the Nov. 6 general election.
Local boards of elections will be open until 9 p.m. today to accept new and updated registrations, and they also will be open for in-person absentee voting until 9 p.m. today. The offices can be contacted at the following locations:
- Belmont County - 740-526-0188, 103 Plaza Drive, Suite B, St. Clairsville.
- Harrison County - 740-942-8866, 538 N. Main St., Suite B, Cadiz.
- Jefferson County - 740-283-8522, 117 N. Third St., Steubenville.
- Monroe County - 740-472-0929, 47084 Black Walnut Parkway, Woodsfield.
Absentee ballot applications are available now at boards of elections offices.
Voters also can check their registration and update their voter registration online through the Ohio Secretary of State's website at myohiovote.com.
Ohio law requires that every voter provide identification before casting a ballot. The forms of identification that can be used by a voter who appears at a polling place to vote on Election Day include a current and valid driver's license or photo identification card issued by the state of Ohio or the United States government; military identification; a current utility bill; or a copy of a current bank statement, government check or current paycheck.
The last day to register to vote in West Virginia is Oct. 16. Early voting starts in West Virginia on Oct. 24 and continues through Nov. 3.
