Ski enthusiasts take note: The Oglebay Ski Club is looking to get you ready to tackle the slopes by airing Warren Miller's latest extreme ski and snowboard movie - "Flow State" - at 7:15 Nov. 1 at the Pine Room.
"Flow State" guides viewers to the top of the world's most striking peaks, providing an exhilarating journey across the globe to Norway, Austria, California, Switzerland and beyond. Hosted by Jonny Moseley and showcasing celebrated athletes including Colby West, Chris Davenport, Jess McMillan and David Wise, "Flow State" features some of the most captivating footage ever shot by Warren Miller Entertainment.
Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety takes on Alaska's mighty Chugach, Julian Carr bombs down Utah's famed Wasatch, Jackie Paaso explores the Norwegian Arctic and Chris Anthony makes Warren Miller history on 70-year-old, 10th Mountain Division ski equipment.
Warren Miller Entertainment describes "Flow State" as a place of "such singular focus and connection with the environment that, in this place, the faster you ride, the slower time passes." When asked about the film, director Max Bervy said, "The Flow State is a place where the impossible becomes possible - where time slows down and a perfect moment becomes attainable. This film reveals what it is like to be completely immersed in the present ... completely immersed in the snow, in the mountains and the enjoyment of winter."
Paul Exley, owner of Alpine Skis & Boards in Wheeling, said his customers have been eager for the upcoming ski season after last year's warmer temperatures. He said airing the movie will be "a great way to get them excited for the upcoming ski and board season."
"This is going to be a great ski year," Exley said. "We're really excited to have an event such as this here in Wheeling. It's a great way to build excitement for the season.
