MOUNDSVILLE - An employee of Mike's Place at 11 Ash Ave., Moundsville, was accosted by an armed robber shortly after the gambling parlor opened Sunday afternoon.

Moundsville police said a man entered the establishment shortly after it opened at 1 p.m. and ordered the female employee to hand over the money from the cash register. The employee told police that after she gave him the cash he pushed her to the floor, and then stomped on her hand twice. She said the man told her not to call anyone or he would be back.

After the robber left, the employee said she called her boss, who in turn called police. The employee, who told people she had arrived at the business at 12:45 p.m. and had opened the doors at 1 p.m., was taken to Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, for treatment of her hand injury.

Police said the robbery took place at 1:07 p.m. According to those who viewed a video from inside the establishment, the suspect was wearing a mask and hooded sweatshirt and was carrying a handgun. No other description was made available at press time, however, police said they would be receiving an enhanced video, and would release it to the media.
