Walter Hill

HILL, Walter E., Jr., 80, of Powhatan Point, OH, died Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV.

He was born November 19, 1931 in Steinersville, York Township, Belmont County, OH, a son of Walter F. and Luella Duvall Hill.

Walter was a retired coal miner, superintendent for the North American Coal Corporation's Number Four Mine; a member of the Powhatan United Methodist Church, Moriah Lodge # 105 F & AM and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville and a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Margieanna Rouse Hill.

Surviving are his sons, Shawn Michael Hill and his fiancee, Heather Lamp, of Powhatan Point, OH and James Dwayne Hill of Canton, OH; one sister, Carma Lou Board, of Newport, OH; and two brothers, Hugh (Ruedelle) Hill of Abernathy, TX and Barry J. (Linda) Hill of Lewisville, OH. Also two grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 186 Main St., Powhatan Point, OH on Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment in the Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, OH.

Moriah Lodge #105 F & AM will conduct services at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Powhatan Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Full Military Honors on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Powhatan United Methodist Church 169 Main St., Powhatan Point, OH 43942.
