Recorder Boyer, Treasurer Sefsick Returning to Posts

Harrison County Recorder Tracy Boyer was re-elected defeating Republican challenger R. Eugene Hilligas. Boyer received 4,196 votes to Hilligas' 2,555 votes.

Boyer, a Democrat, has been Harrison County's recorder for the past 20 years. Harrison County was the first county in the state to digitize all its documents, with Boyer leading the way on the project.

In the race for the Harrison County treasurer's position, incumbent Vicki Sefsick defeated Republican challenger Richard Anderson, receiving 4,244 votes to Anderson's 2,591.

Sefsick, a Democrat, has been serving as treasurer for the past 18 months following the resignation of the county's former treasurer. She has been working in the treasurer's office for the past 10 years.

Several levies were also up for vote Tuesday, including:

- Buckeye Joint Vocational District (Franklin and Monroe townships) - Replacement of 1.8-mill levy for current expenses for 10 years was defeated 303 votes to 209.

- Bowerston - Replacement of 1-mill levy for park expenses for five years was defeated 78 votes to 67.

- Freeport - Additional 2.67-mill levy for street expenses for five years was approved 76 votes to 69.

- Freeport - Additional 1-mill levy for current expenses for five years was approved 78 votes to 69.

- Cadiz Township - Replacement of 0.25-mill levy for maintenance of Cadiz Township Cemeteries for five years was approved 990 votes to 577.

- Monroe Township - Renewal of 0.5-mill levy for fire protection for five years was approved 343 votes to 157.

- Monroe Township - Renewal of 1-mill levy for fire protection for five years was approved 322 votes to 170.

- North Township - Renewal of 1-mill levy for road and bridges for five years was approved 396 votes to 239.

- North Township - Renewal of 1-mill levy for fire protection for five years was approved 458 votes to 181.

- Nottingham Township - Replacement of 1-mill levy for cemetery maintenance for five years was approved 107 votes to 55.

- Rumley Township - Renewal of 1-mill levy for maintenance of Rumley Cemetery for five years was approved 132 votes to 122.
