The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

DELBRUGGE, Virginia May [1908 - 2012] of Wheeling, WV.

On Friday, November 16, 2012, Virginia May Delbrugge, age 103, went to be with her Lord, and with Jack her devoted husband of 55 years. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Nancy and son-in-law Gordon Morse; and her beloved grandson Zachary.

Born and raised in Warwood, the daughter of the late Martin and Libbie Wright, she was extremely proud of her role as mother and wife to her family of five. She also took a great deal of pride in her many years as the head bookkeeper at the Costanza Coal Mine Company in Warwood, WV.

While Virginia's passion for life occasionally took her to other states and towns, like Buffalo, NY, Danville, KY, Cincinnati, OH, and Moundsville, WV she always returned to her roots in Warwood. Finally settling down in her beloved home on 21st Street, where she has remained for the last 60 plus years.

Virginia and her parents, Libbie and Martin were lifelong and founding members of the Warwood Methodist Church, where her husband Jack sang in the choir for many years.

She will be greatly missed by her family and her beloved and devoted son, James who was her primary caregiver since the passing of his father, Jack Hanson Delbrugge in 1987. In addition to her son James, she leaves behind two daughters, Jacqueline and husband, Terrence Kramer of Fort Walton Beach, FL; and Karen and Reverend Thomas McKelvey of Salisbury, MD; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Morse) and husband Brian Westcott of New Bern, NC; and Jasmin Delbrugge of Richmond, VA; two grandsons, Scott McKelvey of Saint Michaels, MD; and Timothy McKelvey of Virginia Beach, VA; and one great grandchild, Kyle McKelvey.

Other family members left behind include her nephew, Donald and his wife Jeanie Bradford of Wheeling, WV and her special deceased friend, Lee Dusch.

The family would also like to thank Sherry Raper, Virginia's beloved caregiver who so graciously gave of her time and love to ease the burden of James' daily care.

Friends will be received Monday, November 19, 2012 from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304) 277-2722 with the Reverend Thomas McKelvey officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

By her request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Warwood United Methodist Church, 1438 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003.
