WJU Playing Host To D2 Regional

WHEELING - The No. 19 ranked Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team received the top seed in the NCAA's Atlantic Region Tournament which will be held on November 29-December 1 at the Alma Grace McDonough Center.

WJU finished regular season play with a 32-2 overall record which included an unblemished 14-0 mark in the WVIAC. Jesuit collected three additional victories at the WVIAC Tournament, earning their fifth consecutive WVIAC Tournament championship with a 3-0 victory against Seton Hill University.

WJU is making their fifth consecutive appearance to the season finale and will be hosting the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The 35-2 Cardinals are scheduled to play the No. 8 seed Broncos of Fayetteville State University on Thursday Nov. 29. Match times will be announced later this week.

The Division II Women's Volleyball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will be participating in the 2012 Division II Women's Volleyball Championship.

Eight teams were selected from each of the following eight regions: Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West.

Eight eight-team regionals will be played at on-campus sites. Regional competition will be single-elimination, Best-of-5 sets matches and will not include a third-place match.

The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the championship finals, Dec. 6-8. Competition at the final site will be single-elimination, best-of-five sets matches.

The site of the finals will be on the campus of West Florida at the UWF Field House.
