RICHMOND, Thelma Loretta Lemasters, 81, of Moundsville passed away Monday, November 19, 2012, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, PA, following a short illness.
She was born in Reader, WV, on January 13, 1931, daughter of the late Lawrence Lester Lemasters and Ada Belle (Bassett) Lemasters Richmond.
Thelma married John F. Richmond on September 16, 1950, who preceded her in death on December 3, 1973.
Thelma was a business owner, having owned and operated the Moundsville Yellow & White Cab Company until her retirement.
Thelma was a 50-year member of Temple Baptist Church in Moundsville. Thelma held a very strong Christian faith. She was an avid sports fan, especially of West Virginia University and the Cleveland Indians. Thelma was a special lady and a dear friend to many.
Following heart surgery in 1999, she made exercise a part of her life spending 13 years with Reynolds Hospital's Cardiac Rehab Group. She was matriarch of the "Pew Packers Club" and loved Sunday dinner after church followed by a movie.
Surviving is her beloved daughter, Sandra Lynn Cypher and her husband, Steven of Canonsburg, PA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are welcome on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, from 2-8 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of services at Altmeyer Funeral Home Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV.
Services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012, at noon at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Plaugher officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
The family has established a fund to help others continue their heart rehabilitation after insurance programs expire. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thelma's Rehab Fund, c/o of United Bank, 621 7th Street, Moundsville, WV 26041.
