ROUPE, Mr. Robert James, 86, of Mt. Airy, MD, died suddenly Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born August 28, 1926 in Morgantown, WV, he was the son of the late Everette and Clara Frances Parks Roupe. He was the husband of Faye Cox Roupe, who predeceased him in 2002. Mr. Roupe served in the Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater and seeing action at Iowa Jima. He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment mechanic with Schiappa Coal Company in Steubenville, OH, from which he retired. He was a member of the VFW in Follansbee, WV. Mr. Roupe enjoyed working, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are daughter, Pamela F. Straight, and husband, Kevin, of Mt. Airy; sons, William L. Roupe of Follansbee and Robert J. Roupe Jr. of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Michelle Sprinkle of Weirton, WV, Shawn and Magena Straight of Frederick, MD, Caleb and Ariel Roupe of Denver; great-grandchildren, Jason, Jada and Lacy Sprinkle of Weirton; and siblings, Nellie Cox of Steubenville, Jack Roupe of Follansbee and Susan Roupe of Columbia, NC. He was predeceased by brothers, William (Bill) and Gail (Fred) Roupe.
