Why not return the money to the taxpayers? Research into bio hazards should be done at proper laboratory facilities, not at tiny colleges. Why is this? By their defined nature these organisms are deadly and must be handled in carefully designed settings.
The story about West Liberty University and rabbit fever research did not mention that extensive work has already been done by published international researchers, using high level facilities. Petra C.F. Oyston and a long list of others are well respected in this field.
I am suggesting that the merit and peer review of $500,000 in grant money need to be investigated. Texas has a breaking scandal over $20 million from CPRIT, but then everything is bigger in Texas.
