Leah Newmeyer

NEWMEYER, Leah Robinson, 74, of Wheeling, WV, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012.

She was born in Wheeling, the daughter of the late Mildred and Hymie Robinson.

She was a registered nurse, graduate of Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing and St. Joseph's Cathedral, class of 1956.

Leah was married to Charles "Pete" Newmeyer and lived in Elm Grove for more than 47 years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. She belonged to CRS Club and Our Lady of Seven Dolars Altar Society. Leah loved to watch her grandchildren's sporting events. She enjoyed traveling and her many vacations to Florida. She also loved giraffes and has collected many over the years.

She is survived by her loving husband; three children: Christy Bauer and her husband David of Columbus, OH, Jill Carlin and her husband Michael of Yardley, PA, and Paul Newmeyer and his wife Susie of Wheeling; six grandchildren: Nathan, Tyler and Kyle Newmeyer of Wheeling, Zachary and Emily Carlin of Yardley, PA, and Lindsey Bauer of Columbus; a brother, David Robinson of St. Albans, WV; two sisters: Brenda Robinson Hun of Hurricane, WV, and Gerry Robinson of Wheeling; a stepmother-in-law, Dorothy Newmeyer of Wheeling; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday, December 21, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 22, 2012, at noon at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling. Committal service will follow immediately at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Leah to the donor's choice.
