Lord’s Store Fills Need In The Ohio Valley

December 24, 2012
By SHELLEY HANSON Staff Writer , The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

After working as a hospice nurse for five years, Cathy Stricklin decided she wanted people to know the Lord long before they reached their final hours of life.

Being raised in a religious household in her native Dallas, Stricklin said she believed her Ohio County community needed a place to purchase bibles and learn more about God. To help fill this need, she has opened The Lord's Store, 5449 Dallas Pike, beside her farm home. The shop is located about 4 miles from exit 11 off Interstate 70.

"We don't have Christian bookstores in the area. It's been well received. ... I wanted to reach out to the community. There's a need for a Christian bookstore and a place where people can come and share. People need to talk about the Lord," she said.

Stricklin said since opening in November she has sold a case of bibles a week. She also sells religious gift items, cards, new and used books, church supplies, music, videos, T-shirts and more. She hopes in the future to expand her store to allow people to hold bereavement meetings, bible studies and other community meetings.

"The store has been dedicated and anointed. People feel peace when the come here," Stricklin said.
