WHALEN, Timothy W. "Wally," 58, of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 8, 1954, in Wheeling, a son of the late Paul A. Whalen and Martha J. Stanley Whalen Coleman.
Tim is a 1972 graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School, a dedicated employee of West Virginia-Ohio Motors Sales (Mack trucks) with 39 years of service, a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, past member of the Oglebay Softball Club and Dobkin Bros. Dart League.
Wally was an avid sports fan and loved his Central Maroon Knights, West Virginia Mountaineers, and his Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Claire "Kay" Whalen, a brother, Paul Michael Whalen, step-father, George Coleman.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Sue Whalen, one daughter, Martha R. Whalen, one son, Timmy P. Whalen at home, a step-daughter, Kimberly N. Barber and husband, Martin Quick, a step-son, Brian A. Barber and fiance, Christi Mills, of Wheeling; a sister-in-law, Kathy Pompeo Whalen of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews, many friends, and his faithful companion, Rusty.
Friends received 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV, where Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling.
