Vincent Griffith

GRIFFITH, Vincent, Anthony, Sr., 88, of Wheeling, WV, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at Wheeling Hospital.

Born in Triadelphia on June 14, 1924, Vincent was the son of the late James Patrick and Mary Ebbert Griffith.

Vincent was the president of Griffith Brothers Construction Company and Vice President of J.V. Construction Inc. for forty years. He served as president of the Ohio Valley Contractors Association, a member of the Board of Directors for First National Bank/Wesbanco of Wheeling, and the Board of Trustees of Mt. De Chantal. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 4th degree, Round Table Investment Club, Short Circuit Club, Wheeling Elks, Knights of Columbus Golf Club and St. Michael Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Charles and John Griffith and two sisters, Mary Margaret Griffith and Lorettann McQuay.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy V. Griffith of Wheeling; five children, Dr. Sandra Griffith and her husband, David Osmer, of Seattle, WA, Dr. Vincent A. (Rita) Jr. of Melbourne, FL, Cindy (Bill) Heimbaugh of Tyler, TX, Linda (Steve) Kolas of Wheeling and Louis (Karen) Griffith of Columbus, OH; two brothers, George (Rita) and Thomas Griffith; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Thursday, January 3, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, WV, where the Knights of Columbus will hold there Rosary Service at 3:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Jeremiah McSweeney as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wheeling at 137 Mt. St. Joseph Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.
