HARRIS, Dale Ford, 86, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at the Shadyside Care Center, his son Greg and daughter-in- law, Janet at his side.
Dale was born March 5, 1926, at Piedmont, Ohio, a son of the late Forest Dale Harris and Olive Marie Ford Harris.
Dale served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Campaign.
He retired from Shoemaker Mine following over 30 years of employment with Consol.
Dale was a great baseball fan who loved the Pittsburgh Pirates. His passion as an umpire for local teams gained him the respect of many.
After retirement Dale spent over 16 years as a dedicated volunteer driving the senior van for Belmont County Commission on Aging.
The very professional and caring staff of Shadyside Care Center made the final year and a half of his life more enriched. The friendship staff provided was greatly appreciated.
Dale is missed by his son Greg; daughter-in-law, Janet; cousins, Starla and Treva; niece, Bonnie, nephew, Putsy; and his close buddy, Tony.
He now rests in heaven with his granddogs, Spikie and Curly Joe, whom he loved dearly.
Greg and Janet will hold a memorial service at a later date to honor Dale.
