Joseph Baum

BAUM, Joseph William, 85, of Glen Dale passed peacefully Sunday, January 6, 2013, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 6, 1927, in Glen Dale, the son of the late Joseph and Amelia Leitner Baum.

Joe was retired from Tri-State Electric; a former employee from Louis Marx Toy Company; a U.S. Army veteran of WWII; a devoted Catholic; a member of St. Jude Catholic Church; VFW 437; and the Earl Francis Post 3, American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Baum; a sister, Agnes Sampson; three brothers, David, Paul and Frank Baum; and a daughter-in-law, Carla Baum.

He is survived by his children, Catherine (William) French of South Carolina, Peter Baum, Sr. of Glen Dale, Mary (Steve) Riker of Virginia, Monica (Bernie) Carroll of Triadelphia; a brother, Carl (MaryLee) Baum, of Moundsville; seven grandchildren, Michael French, Suzanne French, Pete Baum, Jr., Kelley Diab, Steve Riker, Jr., Sean Carroll, and Ryan Carroll; several nieces and nephews.

Joe always had a story to tell to make you laugh, a smile on his face and a true lust for life. Joe was an exceptional father and one of the few really good guys. He will be missed by his family and friends and all who had the pleasure to know him.

Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, where vigil services will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 710 Jefferson Ave., Glen Dale, with Fr. Ranjan Ekka as celebrant.

Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville, where Moundsville Honor Guard will conduct Military graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe's name to the American Cancer Society, 122 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501.
