HARTENSTEIN, Lois I. Marple, 81, of Bethlehem passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Liza's Place, Wheeling.
She was born April 23, 1931, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Russell Marple and Margaret Garvin Marple Lindsey.
Mrs. Hartenstein was a graduate of Wheeling High School, Class of 1949, known as the 49ers. She was a switchboard operator for the former C&P Telephone Company, and was a homemaker. She played tennis for over 40 years and was a member of the U.S. Tennis Association.
As a member of the Bethlehem United Presbyterian Church, she was past Sunday School Teacher and Deacon; and was a past Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard Glen "Dick" Hartenstein, December 16, 2011; and two brothers, Jim and Calvin Marple.
Surviving are her daughter, Pam Trabert and her husband, Tim of Wheeling, WV; son, Rick Hartenstein and his wife, Donna of Leonardtown, MD; five grandchildren, Hilary, Emily and Melanie Hartenstein of Leonardtown, MD; and Tony and Marlo Trabert both of Wheeling; a sister, Mineta Prettyman and her husband, Alvin of Wheeling; brother-in-law, Leonard Redmond; three sisters-in-law, Betty Hartenstein, Jackie Henry, and Ruth Hodgkiss; several nieces and nephews; and numerous caring neighbors including her closest friend of 54 years, Joann Orr.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311), where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, with Pastor Timothy Orr and the Reverend Margie Carr officiating. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
