LALLY, Joseph E. Jr., 85, of Williamsburg Circle, Wheeling, WV, passed away at his home on January 26, 2013.
He was born in Wheeling on July 27, 1927, the son of the late Joseph E. and Mary Casey Lally.
He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and West Virginia University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
He was president of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and a member of Psi Chi Psychology Honorary.
Joe was also an active member of the debating team.
He was a "Distinguished Military Graduate" in the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years, and subsequently the United States Air Force.
He retired as Lieutenant Colonel.
Joe was a former radio announcer for WHLL and WKWK.
He was associated with Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation for 27 years as a sales representative, and subsequently with Wheatland Tube Company of Collingswood, New Jersey.
Joe was a member of the WVU Alumni Association, the Fort Henry Chapter of the Reserve Officers Association, and a former volunteer for the Ohio Valley Harvest.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother William A. Lally of Plano, Texas.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce of Wheeling; a son, Brent of Morgantown; two sisters, Ann Marie Kammer and her husband, William of Columbus, Ohio, Margie Lally of Naples, Italy; a sister-in-law, Lynn Holderman of Wheeling; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, where Vigil services will be held at 8:30 pm.
Liturgy of the Word Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., with Rev. William Matheny officiating.
Interment and Military Honors in Greenwood Cemetery.
