COFFIELD, Mary Lou, age 83, of Warwood, WV, formerly of Moundsville, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013, at Liza's Place, Wheeling, WV.
She was born January 17, 1930, in Wheeling, the daughter of the late Carl and Agnes Hill Ingram.
Mary Lou worked at the former Fostoria Glass Co. and retired as an office worker with AEP. As a young woman she was a licensed pilot and flew Piper Cubs.
She was an avid traveler having visited numerous countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Greece, Scotland, and England. She had a strong love for animals that included rescuing Greyhounds and supporting causes such as animal shelters, the Humane Society, the A.S.P.C.A., and The Gorilla Foundation. She shared her love of reading as a literacy volunteer.
Mary Lou was a member of Upper Ohio Valley Chapter of the WV Archeological Society, Wheeling Area Historical Society, Wheeling Newcomers Club, Friends of Wheeling, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an active member at both Trinity and St. Matthew's Episcopal Churches.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel "Butch" (Sherrie) Coffield of Battle ground, WA, Jim (Hope) Coffield of Wheeling, and Bob (Beth) Lowe of New Martinsville, WV; a brother, Albert (Jenny) Ingram of Moundsville; five grand children, Aeriel (Erick) Torres, Maggie and Patrick Childers, Mike Lowe, and Justin (Amy) Lowe; two great-grandchildren, Max and Sam Lowe; two nephews, Carl and Alan Ingram; four great-nieces and a great-nephew.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from noon until time of service at 1p.m. at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville, WV.
