Talk show host and former politician Jerry Springer will be the emcee when "The Price is Right, Live!" comes to Wheeling next week.
Local residents will get the chance to "come on down" to win cash and prizes during the show, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Capitol Theatre.
The stage show is based on the popular television game show, which is now in its 40th year. Attendees should recognize many of the games in the live stage show as ones they've seen on television - among them "Any Number," "Cliff Hangers," the "Clock Game," "Hole in One" (not played for a car), "It's In the Bag," "One Wrong Price" and "Plinko."
Contestants also can get called to "come on down" during the show to spin the "Big Wheel" for a cash prize, or play in the "Showcase Showdown." The contestants attempt to guess the price of the prize package shown during the "Showcase Showdown," but they must come within $100 of the actual price to be victorious.
Springer is among entertainers tapped to host "The Price is Right, Live!" at venues nationwide. He is a former television news anchor and mayor of Cincinnati who went on to host the Jerry Springer Show.
Springer in recent years also has hosted "America's Got Talent," and he has been a participant in the show "Dancing With the Stars." He hosts the cable game show "Baggage."
"The Price Is Right, Live!" has given away more than $10 million in cash and prizes since hitting the stage six years ago and has sold more than 1.2 million tickets.
