The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

MORRISTOWN - With a 43-42 victory against Union Local on Wedneseday night, third-seeded Martins Ferry will battle No. 1 seed Steubenville on Saturday afternoon at 3 for the title at Ohio University Eastern.

With the Purple Riders clinging to the precarious one-point margin (40-39) and in control of the basketball, Coach Lindsay Coyne opted to run some time off the clock as Megan Rose and Kinney kept a handle on it.

Union Local finally fouled, but Rose made 3 of 4 attempts in the final 36.1 seconds to give her team a four-point advantage. Union Local's Cory Medley banked home a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final margin.

Kinney led all scorers with 19 points. Rose finished with seven, but also charted five steals and four assists. Kinney pulled down five rebounds.

Cori Medley paced the Jets with 18 points. Dallas Montag added 15 and Kayla Doty had eight.
