ST. CLAIRSVILLE - St. Clairsville honored its eight seniors and cruised to a 61-41 victory against Indian Creek on John Jenkins Court inside the Devils' Den.
Seniors Jerrid Marhefka and Dan Monteroso had the hot hands early. Monteroso, who signed his football letter of intent to Purdue on Wednesday, scored 10 in the first quarter, while Marhefka netted seven in the opening eight minutes.
The Red Devils' lead swelled to as many as 28 early in the third thanks to a 7-0 run to begin the half and basically St. C. had it on cruise control from there.
Monteroso finished with a game-high 26 points and nine rebounds. For good measure, he blocked four shots, too. Marhefka was his top complement with a solid 18-point outburst.
St. Clairsville played the majority of the game without senior guard Riley Carlton, who left with some sort of injury. However, coach Kim Clifford believes Carlton will be fine.
Indian Creek, meanwhile, was paced by Alex Young and Frank Kamarec. They each scored 10.
