Cecilia John

JOHN, Cecilia Ursula Joseph, 86, of Wheeling, WV, entered into rest on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Cecilia was born on November 22, 1926 in Waterville, Maine. She was one of 22 children born to the late David and Tamamie (Karam) Joseph.

Cecilia was a retired cook who was well known in the Wheeling area for her gifted skill in preparing delicious meals and Lebanese Cuisine. One of her greatest joys was cooking. Cecilia was a devoted and faithful member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church. She was also a member of the Our Lady of Lebanon Church Women's Society, Cedar Club, Rosary Sodality, Christian Mother's Association, Topps, and a former member of the Civic League of Warwood. Cecilia enjoyed many years of gardening in her backyard and cherished time spent with family and friends gathered around her kitchen table. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, John T. John in 1997, brothers, David "Joe," Elias, Jimmy, John, Alfred, Phillip and Naseeb; sisters, Lena Fotter, Julia Campion, Madeline Joseph and Maryann Perry.

Surviving are her sons, David John, Thomas John and his wife, Michelle, and Greg John all of Wheeling, WV; daughters, Maryann Carl of Glen Dale, WV, and Susan John and her fiance' Ron Burns of Wheeling WV; sisters, Josephine Lafley of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Selma Thompson of Springfield, Illinois; brother, George "Tony" Joseph and his wife, Joyce of Waterville, Maine; grandchildren Nicholas John, Emily Curry and her husband, Dave, Lindsay Carl, Phillip Carl and his wife, Laura, great-granddaughter, Emma Carl, many nieces, nephews, cousins and in- laws.

Cecilia will be greatly missed by her adored Jack Russell Terrier "Bubba," as well as her Wednesday Night Dinner and Cards Night friends. She cherished your friendship.

Friends will be received on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 12-8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV. Rosary devotion and wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 2216 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV, with Monsignor Bakhos Chidiac officiating. Interment will be immediately following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 2216 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV.
