Ethel Shaffer

SHAFFER, Ethel Virginia Heath, 94, of Wheeling, WV, died Friday, March 8, 2013 in the Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital and Geriatric Center, Wheeling.

She was born May 15, 1918 in Marshall County, WV, the daughter of the late George Wiley and Pearl Lilley Heath.

Mrs. Shaffer retired from Aladdin Food Service where she performed various food service duties for 16 years at the West Liberty State College student union snack bar.

She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Wheeling; was a member of the Senior Citizens Golden Ages and a member of the AARP Chapter 2481.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Ray "Doc"

Shaffer in 1970; a daughter, Doris D. Sims and a son-in-law, James Sims both in 1979; six brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are a son, Carl R. Shaffer and his wife, Clara "Clea" of Wheeling; three daughters, Deloris S. Wallace of Elm Grove, Mildred L. Wood and her husband, Clarence of Triadelphia and Sharon L. Ernest and her husband, Ronald "Butch" of Wheeling; two sisters, Olive Toland of Washington, PA and Grace Heath of Triadelphia, WV; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311) where service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at noon with the Rev. Kenneth M. Hardway officiating.

Interment in Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling.
