Brooke County commissioners are being asked by some county employees to end the practice of having the courthouse open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Comparatively little traffic in the building has been given as the reason for that suggestion.
Just three courthouses in West Virginia (the others are in Wetzel and Roane counties) have Saturday hours, it has been noted.
But it also has been pointed out that for some people, especially those who work during the week, it is an important convenience to be able to do business at county offices on Saturdays.
Commissioners should keep that in mind and retain the Saturday hours.
