Gladys McConnell

McCONNELL, Gladys Durig, 95, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Moundsville, WV, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, in Jacksonville.

She was born August 10, 1917, in Moundsville, the daughter of the late Achiles and Martha Vandine Durig.

Mrs. McConnell was a retired employee of Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, and a member of the First Christian Church of Moundsville. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 3, Moundsville, the Eastern Star Chapter 86, the Pythian Sisters, the Daughters of America, and the Marshall County Senior Citizens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred McConnell; four step-sons, Paul, Bob, Martin, and John McConnell.

Surviving are a son, William Durig McConnell of Moundsville; two daughters, Donna (Kenneth) Doersch of Kingsland, GA and Ella (Bill) McKee of Jacksonville; a grandson, Scott Hazlett of Switzerland; two granddaughters, Amber (Ben) Klug of Moundsville and Sarah (Brock) Goselin of Jacksonville; three great-grandchildren, Maggie Klug, J.J. Klug and Nathan Goselin.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where a Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m., with Rev. Wesley Howsare officiating.

Private interment will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
