A state-run nursing home for military veterans, opened in Clarksburg, W.Va., in 2007, already cannot meet the demand for services from those who once defended our country but now need help.
According to a published report, the 120-bed facility has a waiting list of more than 100 veterans. Those in "dire need" can be moved up on the list, it was noted.
State legislators have considered building a new nursing home for indigent veterans. Though the state's budget is tight - and getting tighter - such action should remain under consideration. If the state can afford it, West Virginians would support more aid for those who served.
