HINKLE, Harry J., 88, of Barnesville died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Belmont Manor in St. Clairsville.
He was born in Bethesda on September 13, 1924, to the late Harry and Inez (Conard) Hinkle.
Harry was a real patriot. He was a veteran of the Army where he served as a Tech Sergeant from 1943-1946 and was a POW of WWII for eight months in Germany.
He worked at Cheffy Drugs for many years and worked part-time selling insurance. He later owned Hinkle Insurance of Barnesville.
He was a member of the Barnesville First Presbyterian Church, Past President and Secretary of the Rotary, American Legion, VFW, Bethesda Sportsmens' Club, Shriners of Wheeling and the Masonic Lodge where he is a 32nd degree Mason.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Bruster Hinkle; two brothers, Algus and Earl; and three sisters, Zella, Lucille and Betty.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Hinkle of St. Clairsville; sister, Bernie Zeller of Eustice, FL; many loving nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Fran Schoolcraft and Joe Lynn.
Harry is also survived by his special friend of 14 years, Carol Snopel and her family, especially her great-grandchildren, who have brought Harry great joy. His sense of humor and story telling will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Friday, May 3, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Campbell- Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mike Mistic officiating.
Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Bethesda, Ohio.
