Frank Kuca Jr.

KUCA, Frank, Jr., 73, of Wheeling, passed from death unto life everlasting with God on May 3, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family after a two year battle with brain cancer.

He was born July 9, 1939 in Wheeling, the son of the late Frank Kuca, Sr. and Anna Kolich Kuca.

He retired with 23 years of service from the Wheeling Police Department, Police Chief of Clearview for 5 years, and Court Security Officer for U.S. Marshals Service for 14 years. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of the FOP, Wheeling Lodge # 38.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Kuca, and Joseph Kuca.

Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years Jessie (Gennie) Saunders Kuca; one son, Frank D. Kuca (Patti) of Wheeling; two daughters, Cheryl (John) Snyder of Scott Depot, WV and Diane (Robb) Criswell of Huntington, WV; one brother, Michael Kuca and fiancee Frannie Conner; two sisters, Mary Ellen (Jack) DiCocco and Anna Marie (Jim) Kloss.

He enjoyed visiting and spending time with his seven grandchildren, Frank A. (Stephanie) Kuca, Kevin and Kyle Kuca, Christine and Justin Snyder, and Kayla and Courtney Criswell; two precious great-granddaughters, Kara and Macie Kuca; several nieces and nephews.

His hobbies included being an avid jogger of 36 years who completed 3 Columbus Marathons, and numerous races. He is an Honorary Ironman of the Wheeling Distance races. He enjoyed following the Steelers and WVU.

Friends will be received Monday, May 6, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277- 2722).

Vigil Service Monday 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Msgr. Eugene S. Ostrowski as celebrant.

Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
