Cambridge's Seth Warden gave the Buckeyes a 2-1 lead before West Virginia came back on a goal from Weir's Kenny Muhart. The Mountaineers pulled ahead on Morgantown's David Minehart's goal with 21:14 remaining. Less than a minute later, Steubenville Catholic's Brandon Llewellyn scored the game's final goal.
Juan Cardenas of Parkersburg South was named West Virginia's Offensive MVP, while Magnolia goalie Alex Pancake earned top defensive honors. For Ohio, the Offensive MVP was Warden and the defensive star was Andrew Connor of East Liverpool.
