Wilfred Myers

MYERS, Wilfred I., 92, of Glen Dale, WV, passed away on May 5, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on July 6, 1920, in Boggs Run Road, Marshall County, WV, son of the late Frank and Marie Didion Myers.

Mr. Myers was a graduate of Sherrard High School, a retired carpenter for the former Postlewaite Construction Company, belonged to Carpenter's Local Union 3, and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Boggs Run Road. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a recipient of the Bronze Star, a member of the American Legion Post 5 and Post 46, and VFW Post 437 and Nelson Lodge 30.

Wilfred loved hunting, fishing, family gatherings, and was dedicated to his church. He was loved by his family and has many many friends and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Myers, step-son, Keith Wendel, and a brother, Jack Myers.

Wilfred is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Auber Myers, daughter, Rebecca Cottage of Moundsville, WV, step-sons, David (Angie) Wendel of Bethlehem, WV, Bruce (Mary) Wendel of Glen Dale, WV, Mark (Connie) Wendel of Glen Dale, WV, and Gary Wendel of McMechen, WV. 11 grandchildren, Joel Cottage, Zachary Cottage, Amelia Myers, Will Myers, Dave Wendel, Christie Tipton, Michelle Wendel, Marti Wendel, Mandy Wendel, Rachel Getz, and Sarah Wendel, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a special niece, Kim Myers. Also survived by best friend his kitty, Hershey, and parrot, Willie II.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 3545 Jacob Street, South Wheeling.

Services will be held on Wednesday 10, a.m, May 8, 2013, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Boggs Run Road, Benwood, WV, with Pastor Roger Harms officiating.

Interment Halcyon Hills Memorial Park.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Moundsville Honor Guard.
