The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

STINE, George "Bill" William Jr., age 72, of New Martinsville, WV, surrounded by family and friends finished his race on Friday, May 10, 2013. He is now with his Savior Jesus Christ.

Bill was born July 17, 1940, in New Martinsville, WV, a son of the late George and Vonda Kocher Stine.

Bill has a brother, Dave (Mary Margaret) Stine of Proctor, WV; a sister, Deborah Livingston of New Martinsville, WV and a sister-in-law, Faye Kocher.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy "Chub" Kocher.

In 1965, Bill married Sharol Hooper and began their life together. For 48 years they lived in New Martinsville where they raised their children: Greg (Teresa) Stine of Morgantown, Jeff (Jessica) Stine of Sistersville and Mary Jo (Matthew) Childers of Middlebourne. One of Bill's biggest honors was to be called "Pappy" by his six beautiful grandchildren, Noah Stine, Olivia and Joshua Stine, Addy, Jude and Sophia Childers. Bill loved being with his grandchildren and teaching them baseball.

He always made sure that each one of them was safe. At family get-to-togethers you could always find "Pappy" with his grandchildren. Bill also loved playing golf and spent many hours with his golf partner and nephew John Kocher. He was a caring man, always putting others before himself. He loved serving at the New Martinsville Church of God as head usher, greeting everyone with a smile.

Besides being a loving husband, amazing dad and beloved "Pappy", his biggest legacy was that he was a Godly man. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He left a great heritage to his family, friends, and church. We will miss him so much, but we have no doubt that we will see him again!

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on the Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the New Martinsville Church of God, 1249 N. State Route 2, New Martinsville, WV, where funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday with Pastor Mick Frye and Pastor David Snyder officiating .
