Maxine Schmitt

SCHMITT, Maxine Eleanore Tracewell, 85, of Wheeling died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.

Born December 15, 1927 in Wheeling, she was the daughter of the late Todd and Ida Larson Tracewell.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, a Wheeling Hospital volunteer, a member of Wheeling Women's Club, the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, the Wheeling Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and St. Michael's Eucharist Minister/Funeral Choir.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by son, Edward C. Schmitt in 1994.

Surviving are daughters, Molly Anne Schmitt-Keane and her husband, Michael Keane of Morgantown, WV, Nancy Jane Schmitt and husband, Michael Travagli of Westminster, MD and Kerry Joanne and husband Michael Koletar of Baldwin, MD; three sons, James Andrew Schmitt and wife, Melinda of Shepherdstown, WV, Jerald Todd Schmitt USAF SSgt (Retired) and wife, Denise of Wheeling, WV and Daniel Matthew Schmitt and wife, Sharon of Grayslake, Illinois; and grandchildren, Christopher Doerr of Danville, VA, Jennifer Dombroski of State College, PA, Erik Keane and Ashley Keane of Morgantown, WV, Jessica Schmitt and Timothy Schmitt of Shepherdstown, WV, Adam Schmitt and Brad Schmitt of Wheeling, WV, Andrew Schmitt, Edward Schmitt and Anna Schmitt of Grayslake, IL and Connor Koletar and Olivia Koletar of Baldwin, MD. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Maya Dombroski and Alexander Doerr.

Friends will be received on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev.William K. Matheny Jr. serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Michael's Development Fund at 1225 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.
