GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Presidents' Athletic Conference announced its 2013 all-conference baseball teams, as voted on by each of the league's nine head coaches, Tuesday morning.
Thiel College senior first baseman and pitcher Nick Rossmiller was selected as the 2013 PAC Player of the Year while Washington & Jefferson College junior Eddie Nogay was selected as the 2013 PAC Pitcher of the Year. Rossmiller and Nogay also earned spots on the All-PAC first team.
Washington & Jefferson's Jeff Mountain was named the 2013 PAC Coach of the Year.
W&J (30-11), winners of last weekend's PAC Championship Baseball Tournament, received the conference?s automatic qualifying spot in the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship, while Thomas More (29-14), runners up in last weekend's championship tourney, received a Pool C bid.
Both W&J and Thomas More will be traveling to the Mideast/Terre Haute, Ind., Regional, which is being played host to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and begin play Wednesday,. Games will be played at RHIT?s Art Nehf Field.
Nogay, a Weirton Madonna graduate, is the second straight W&J player to win the PAC's Pitcher of the Year award, following David Trushel in 2012. He improved to 10-1 this spring after leading W&J to a 14-3 victory against Saint Vincent College in the opening-round of the PAC Baseball Championship Tournament, becoming the first President to earn a double-figure victory total in a single season. Nogay tossed seven innings, allowing two earned runs on eight hits, while striking out three.
He carries a 20-1 career record into this week's NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Nogay was a second-team selection in 2012 and an honorable mention pick in 2011.
Bethany senior pitcher Brad Kubis was named second team.
